Short Bio

(Ms) Hitomi Takemura has been an associate professor of international law at the Graduate School of Law, Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo, Japan since April 2016. She received her Ph.D. at the Irish Centre for Human Rights, National University of Ireland, Galway in June 2008. The thesis was published by Springer as a book entitled International Human Right to Conscientious Objection to Military Service and Individual Duties to Disobey Manifestly Illegal Orders later in 2008. She also has an LL.M. in public international law and international criminal law specialization from Leiden University, Netherlands, and an LL.M. in international law from Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo, Japan. Her recent research interests include the prosecutorial discretion of international criminal justice and indicators of legitimacy of international law and international criminal justice.
